The world's leading technology research advisory company Gartner recently announced its top 10 strategic technology trends of 2014 on the Forbes website, a widely anticipated event to give companies a good insight into the year ahead.
Interestingly this year's predictions don't feel too far away from 2013's.
As illustrated "cloud" stands out dominantly as the main theme for the year ahead, with more and more companies adopting cloud services for CRM, document management and websites, Office applications etc.
Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure
Microsoft have been at the forefront of this shift in technology, with a huge investment in cloud architecture and a commitment to making all major applications available in the cloud. The investment includes ensuring that servers are available within specific markets, ensuring compliance with data protection requirements.
Dynamics CRM & Office 365
The applications available now in the cloud include the latest Office suite "Office 365" and customer relationship management software "Dynamics CRM".
As well as covering Word, Excel and all major Office apps, Office 365 includes an option to run SharePoint in the cloud. This makes collaborating on documents in a controlled manner within the organisation a simple task and ensures that documents are available to staff on the move.
