Blank reports in CRM 2011

We came across an interesting problem with a client this week that there doesn't appear to be a lot of information about online.

One of our clients contacted C2 to tell us that selected users were seeing a blank screen when they tried to run reports.   This is despite them having the same role and business unit settings.  As this was the case, there should have been no difference for these users within CRM. 

With some help from Microsoft support, this was traced to how the users had first been set up.  It turns out that it is a permission issue with the users getting a blank screen not having a user account in the default organisation.  As such, this issue is only going to manifest itself in multi-tenanted environments. 

The solution was as simple as setting up the user in the default organisation with limited or no permissions.

Whilst this isn't ideal and shouldn't be required, it is a simple fix to the issue until it is hopefully addressed in a future roll up or release.
