Custom Reports with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online

Reports must be created using Visual Studio Reporting Services

Firstly get the primary information you need from the CRM using Advanced Find within CRM and then from the query window select the "Download Fetch XML"

Create a new report within VS and have it have a NEW data source (do not use a shared data source).
The connection string for online services is https://disco.crm4.dynamics.com (this should be the discovery service)

Add in the credentials and then select 'next'.

Paste the XML from the downloaded file to the "query string" box and select 'next'.

Select the report type wanted.

     Set design.

Select colouring.

Give the report a name, then select 'finish'.

The report can then be edited using the builder (see additional threads for reporting functions).

Build the report and then create a new report in CRM. Choose for it to be created from an existing file and select the .rdl file you have just created for your report.
