Origo Services

Business Background

Origo is the eCommerce standards and services body for the UK financial services industry. They bring people together to deliver efficiencies and develop new ideas. Established in 1989 to support the adviser market, and are based in Edinburgh. Operating across the whole of the UK, they work with product providers, wrap platforms, asset managers, financial advisers, portals and software companies to collaborate on identifying and addressing cost and efficiency issues that they cannot tackle in isolation. Their standards and services are available to the whole UK life, pensions, investment and asset management sectors. Their shareholders are: Aegon, Ageas, Aviva, AXA Wealth, Bright Grey, Clerical Medical, Friends Life, Just Retirement, Legal and General, MetLife, Prudential, Scottish Life, Scottish Provident, Scottish Widows, Standard Life, Unum and Zurich.

Project Synopsis - Activedition CMS

Origo chose to redesign and redevelop their corporate website using the Activedition CMS with C2 as its implementation partner. Origo chose Activedition following evaluation and a need for a functionally rich, open and scalable platform to establish their online business.

The website development consisted of Origo and their chosen creative design agency developing the look and feel and C2 architecting the functionality within the overall website structure. This consisted of:

  • Easy & intuitive authoring interface
  • Separation of content from template look & feel
  • Incorporating a Standards repository with privileged access
  • Custom registration with Unipass integration
  • User migration
  • Granular permission structure
  • Questionnaires and user survey support
  • Use of rich media including video
  • Version control and audit trails
  • Document Management System integration
  • Libraries based on structured content management
  • Incorporation of a range of widgets and assets
  • Search optimised pages & content

"The financial services industry initiative Origo was borne out of a number of problems identified via industry research and comment. Due to the nature of such a large, complex initiative, Origo (the facilitator for the initiative) not only required a competent Content Management System, but to work with a company that was positive and full of innovative ideas to help develop solutions to a range of difficult requirements."
